July 1, 2026 | A Sky That Looked Painted
Today the sky couldn't seem to make up its mind, and that made it unforgettable.
The afternoon began with towering fair-weather cumulus clouds floating across an impossibly deep blue sky. They were so perfectly rounded that they hardly looked real. They looked illustrated, as if an artist had painted them one careful brushstroke at a time. Looking from one direction to another, every section of the sky seemed to tell a different story. One horizon was filled with brilliant blue and playful white clouds, while another held darker layers waiting their turn.
It reminded me that sometimes the sky doesn't need to be dramatic to be memorable. Sometimes it's simply beautiful enough to make you stop what you're doing and look up.
An Illustrated Sky
Clouds brushed across a canvas blue,
Each one carrying a story through.
Soft as dreams and bright as light,
Turning an ordinary day into quiet delight.
As evening settled in, another gift arrived. My son sent me a photograph of tonight's sunset over Kansas City. Though I wasn't there to witness it myself, the sky still found a way to share its final masterpiece. Bands of warm orange and gold stretched across the western horizon while the last light faded into soft blue above, reminding me that no matter where we are, we're all still looking up at the same sky.

One day, one state, another city, countless moments. The sky changed its expression over and over again, proving once more that there's always another page waiting to be turned.
The sky always has another story. I'll be back soon to listen.
