The Sky of Hidden Rivers

The afternoon sky arrived draped in layers of gray.

Not the flat gray of a rainy day, but something textured and alive. The clouds stretched across the horizon in long, sweeping bands, their undersides curved and sculpted as if shaped by an unseen hand.

From a weather perspective, the atmosphere feels unsettled. The thicker cloud cover hints at moisture and energy building overhead, a reminder to keep an eye on the forecast as the day unfolds.

Yet standing beneath it, I found myself seeing something else.

The clouds looked like a landscape turned upside down. Deep valleys, winding rivers, and distant mountain ridges seemed to appear between the layers. For a moment, it felt less like looking at the sky and more like peering into another world hidden just beyond reach.

Perhaps that's why I never grow tired of cloud watching.

The weather tells us what the sky is doing.

Imagination tells us where it might lead.
